Roles and Responsibilities

The Corporate and Foundation Grant Writer is responsible for writing institutional (corporate and foundation) grants and coordinating all aspects of corporate and foundation grant proposals from preliminary planning to submission, as well as conducting research on prospective and existing funders, completing reports, and developing and managing relationships with prospective and new funders. The position works closely with the Grant Administrator and functions within internal and external teams.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately enter data into computer-based systems and develop and run reports.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work with the Grant Administrator and teams in the early stages of grant planning, as well as during the proposal development stage to ensure the proposal is completed.
  • Independent decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task to assure deadlines are met.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills and previous success functioning within internal and external teams.
  • Knowledge of resources to use for corporate and development
  • grant research in the pre-planning stages of grant development, as well as the proposal development stage to support the proposal.
  • Ability to work with existing budget assumptions and templates to develop simple budgets and to transfer financial information into federal and other required grant forms. Also need the ability to write budget narratives using the budgets provided.
  • Skilled working with key features of Microsoft Word and Excel such as font, cell and/or paragraph and page formatting features; creating tables and/or charts and graphs; and using “track changes” and other document sharing features.

Prior Experience

  • 3-5 years of grant writing, professional writing, donor management, or grant budgeting experience required.

Education

  • Associate’s degree in related field/Bachelor’s degree preferred
